Google’s Android One program is breaking into a new market today with a brand new smartphone.
The General Mobile 4G is a new smartphone that’s meant to help launch Android One in Turkey. It’ll launch in May 15 at a price of 699 Turkish Lira, which works out to approximately $262 USD. Despite the fact that it’s got a low price, though, the General Mobile 4G actually has a respectable feature set for the money:
The General Mobile 4G is actually pricier than its Android One predecessors, but it’s still considerably cheaper than most of the smartphones that we’re used to seeing. And because it’s an Android One device, it runs vanilla Lollipop — which should help improve its performance since it doesn’t have to power a custom UI on top of Android — and it’ll also get updates directly from Google. Overall, the General Mobile 4G looks like a solid first offering for Android One in Turkey.
