With 2014 coming to a close, many people are looking back over the past year to see how it treated them. Huawei is no different, and apparently the company had itself a pretty good 2014.
According to a memo from Huawei Devices Chairman Richard Yu that was leaked by Reuters, Huawei shipped around 75 million smartphones in 2014. While that’s a tad short of Huawei’s goal of shipping 80 million phones in 2014, it is a year-over-year increase of more than 40 percent.
The year 2014 was a big one for Huawei hardware, with the company releasing major devices like the Ascend Mate2 4G, Ascend Mate7, and the TalkBand B1 wearable. While Huawei still doesn’t have quite the same brand recognition as firms like Apple, Samsung, and HTC — especially in the U.S. — Huawei’s growth in 2014 is still huge, and it’s certainly possible that the company will grow even larger in the mobile market in 2015
