Thanks to their size and increasingly robust feature sets, tablets are quickly becoming the main — and sometimes sole — computer for a lot of folks. Many of those people will be traveling for the holidays soon and taking their tablets with them to stay connected and take photos of loved ones. As a result, the folks at Foursquare today released an update with tablets in mind.
The Foursquare app for iOS is now available on the iPad. The update to version 8.5 makes Foursquare play nicely with the iPad’s larger display, showing you bigger images and more recommendations at once.
The version 8.5 update also includes a new section that’ll gather the Foursquare data for the places around you and display the top picks for your area. That’ll include newly popular places, up-and-comers and some mainstay locales. Finally, the update includes some unnamed “improvements and bug fixes” for the iPhone version of Foursquare.
Because tablets typically have much larger displays than the smartphones people carry with them, having an app that focuses on discovery and recommendations makes sense on a tablet. Plus, as I said before, tablets are becoming the go-to computing device for a lot of people. If you’ve got an iPad, you can download Foursquare to your iOS-powered slate using the App Store link below.
