Instagram has had a pretty good past couple of years that've included getting acquired by Facebook for a cool $1 billion and adding video support. Today it crossed another milestone by crossing the 300 million user milestone.
Instagram took to its official blog today ago reveal that its service is now home to more than 300 million users that share in excess of 70 million photos and videos every day. That’s not the only announcement that Instagram is making today, though, as the service says that it will be adding verified badges in the coming days. Those badges will be given to celebrities, athletes and brands so that you can easily determine if an account that purports to be famous is the real deal.
Finally, Instagram says that it continues to fight spam by removing spammy accounts on its service. Instagram is completely deleting these accounts, which will result in them being removed from follower lists. That means that you may see your follower count see a slight hit.
Instagram has blown up as one of the most popular mobile services in its four years of existence. That’s thanks in part to the fact that it’s cross-platform and that its apps are well-built and allow users to easily and quickly share their content.
