Apparently the U.S. carriers have caught a contagious plan change fever. Last month saw Verizon introduce its new More Everything plans, last weekend both T-Mobile and AT&T tweaked its offerings and now a leaked document has shown that U.S. Cellular is prepping some changes of its own.
Shared by Droid-Life, the leaked doc claims that U.S. Cellular will be increasing the data allotments of its Shared Data plans on Thursday, March 13 (apparently U.S. Cellular thinks that that date falls on Friday). The base $40/300MB plan will allegedly be bumped up to 1GB of data, the $50/1GB plan will be moved up to 2GB and the $60/2GB plan will be upgraded to 3GB. The $70/4GB plan is expected to remain the same.
In addition to these increased data buckets, U.S. Cellular is reportedly planning to introduce a new entry-level Shared Data plan with 300MB of usage for $15 per month. There's also a promotional single line postpaid smartphone plan coming that will offer 1GB of data for $60 per month.
These new plans will be made available to both new and existing U.S. Cellular subscribers, with current customers expected to be automatically upgraded to the larger allotments. Data bucket increases like this one are always good to see, though it is worth noting that when signing up for one of the Shared Data plans, customers will also need to pony up a monthly connection charge of $40 per smartphone, $30 for each basic phone and $10 per tablet.
