Google I/O may be kicking off in just a few short hours, but that doesn't mean that we can squeeze in a few last rumors before the event starts. First up, two sources speaking to Bloomberg have told the publication that Google is planning to introduce a $199 Nexus tablet that'll be co-branded with ASUS. One of the tipsters also said that the tablet will show off "new features of Android" and will run the Jelly Bean version of Google's mobile operating system.

Reuters also chimed in with a brief report of its own on Google's upcoming Nexus tablet. An anonymous ASUS executive said that Google will soon take the wraps off of a new tablet, co-branded with ASUS, that'll target Amazon and the 7-inch Kindle Fire. "It's targeting Amazon. The Kindle is based on Google's platform but with its own service, so Google has to launch its own service, too," the anonymous exec said. No other details of the device were mentioned.

There's already been a number of other reports claiming to have details on this unannounced Nexus tablet, with rumors claiming that it'll sport a 7-inch display, 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB or 16GB of storage and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device could be tough to resist for many folks if that alleged $199 price tag holds true, but it'll be interesting to see how Google plans to convince people to pick up its Nexus tablet over Amazon's Kindle Fire. Thankfully, we may not have much longer to wait before we find out.
