Nokia announced back at CES that the Lumia 800 would be made available from Microsoft Stores in early February as part of a speaker and headset bundle deal. The company didn't announce exact availability or pricing details at the time, but according to a report out of The Verge, the Lumia 800 package will be coming next week. The site claims that "sources close to Microsoft's Lumia launch plans" have said that the bundle will be launching on February 14th with a price tag of $899. What does almost a thousand bucks buy you? An unlocked Lumia 800 in black, cyan or magenta (with the white model coming "soon"), a Nokia Play 360 wireless speaker, Purity HD stereo headset and in-ear Bluetooth headset.
It's good to see that the unlocked Lumia 800 is finally nearing release at Microsoft's brick and mortar stores, but the bundle's $899 price tag may give some folks pause. Interestingly, The Verge claims that the bundle will be targeted at Valentine's Day and other gift shoppers initially and that there are currently no plans to offer the Lumia 800 outside of the package deal. Now we wait for Microsoft and Nokia to come forward and make the unlocked Lumia 800's U.S. availability details officially official. We'll be sure pass along more information as we get it.
