Hot on the heels of Acer teasing its Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Iconia Tab A700, the folks at Lenovo have unveiled an Android 4.0 slate of their own. Dubbed the IdeaTab S2, this slate is packing a 10.1-inch 1280x800 IPS screen, 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, and Lenovo's own Mondrian UI. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter, 1GB RAM, microSD card slot and a micro-HDMI port in a body that measures 0.34 inches thick and weighs in at 1.27 pounds. Expect it to come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB flavors. Lenovo also revealed that the S2 will have its own keyboard dock similar to the one that belongs to Transformer Prime. The S2's keyboard packs in an additional pair of USB ports, SD card slot, and a battery to provide additional juice.
Lenovo also took the time to announced the S2 smartphone, which also happens to be an Android-powered device. This one's packing Android 2.3 Gingerbread beneath Lenovo's custom Magic 3.0 user interface, with a spec sheet that includes a 3.8-inch 800x480 display, 1.4GHz single-core CPU, 8-megapixel camera, 720p video capture, VGA front-facing camera, 512MB or 1GB RAM, 16GB or 32GB storage and a 1,500mAh battery. Lenovo also touted the fact that the S2 smartphone features a "unique Kernel-level security system" to help protect a user's personal data.
As far as pricing and availability go, Lenovo has yet to divulge any info about when either the S2 tablet or smartphone will be available outside of China, where the two devices are already available under the names LePad S2010 and LePhone S2. We'll be sure to pass along more details as we get them. Until then, you can find the full press release from Lenovo ready and waiting for you down below.
