In the wake of AT&T announcing that they plan to acquire T-Mobile, some have speculated that Verizon could be planning to counter the move by buying Sprint at some point in the future. Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead has quieted the rumors, though, simply saying, "We aren't interested in Sprint. We don't need them." Mead also said that he had no plans to oppose the AT&T-Mobile deal.

Sprint may be pretty far behind AT&T-Mobile and Verizon in terms of subscriber numbers, but things have been going pretty well for the Now Network as of late. They recently posted their first subscriber gain in some time, the EVO 4G is still considered by many to be one of the best Android phones on the market, and they're gearing up to launch several other high-profile Android products in the Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D, and EVO View 4G. Will it all be enough for them to take the fight to their competitors? We'll see.
