Apple may not be present at CTIA, but that doesn't mean that we'll go the entire show without hearing at least one iPhone 5 rumor. According to China Times, the next-gen iPhone is already in test production and features a 4-inch touchscreen, scratch-resistant metal backside that is said to improve reception, and perhaps even an NFC chip. The publication claims that full production of the iPhone 5 will begin in the third quarter of this year.
Most of these specs are ones we've heard before, although the rumor mill can't seem to decide on whether or not the next iPhone will pack an NFC chip. The claim that production of the iPhone 5 will be ramping up in Q3 indicates that wide-scale availability of the device may come a little later than we're used to, but most expect that we'll see the new iPhone unveiled this summer. As always, we'll keep you updated.
