Last Friday, we heard that AT&T was finally going to get around to launching the Motorola Flipout on Sunday, September 19th (aka yesterday). Unfortunately, Sunday came and went and there was zero flipping out to be had. That's pretty strange considering that AT&T stores had already received promotional items and literature, but what's even stranger is that, according to an anonymous tipster speaking to Engadget, AT&T may have decided to kill the Flipout at the last minute. AT&T stores were instructed to destroy all literature related to the Flipout and, while it's possible that the stores may simply be getting updated information later on, things certainly don't look good for the AT&T version of the Flipout.
It's looking likely that AT&T has decided not to offer the Flipout, but I'm not sure that that's the best decision for the carrier right now. Sure, the Flipout isn't the flashiest or highest specced Android phone around, but AT&T is still lagging behind some of their competitors when it comes to their Android offerings. Still, we did learn last Friday that there may be two more Motorola handsets coming to AT&T next month, and they'll probably be running Android, too. Do you readers think the AT&T Flipout is gone for good, or will we see it once again at some point in the future?
