Samsung's Epic 4G, possibly the most anticipated Galaxy S variant, still doesn't have any sort of release date. However, a new rumor suggests that we'll be seeing the device much sooner than anyone could have anticipated. Boy Genius Report has received a tip from one of their Sprint sources stating that the Epic 4G will be launched August 11th, preempting both the rumored DROID 2 launch on Verizon and the BlackBerry Torch release from AT&T. The source continued, saying that the Epic 4G launch info is in the Sprint playbook and that some stores will be opening early at 8:00 AM to help meet demand.
I would be surprised to see the Epic launch so soon, but the move definitely makes sense for Sprint. The DROID 2 and the BlackBerry Torch are definitely highly anticipated devices, and Sprint can steal a lot of thunder from two of its competitors by launch the Epic 4G before them. If true, how many of you will be picking up an Epic 4G next week?
