With an iPhone 4 that has both a front and back made of glass, there are bound to be reports of shattered devices sooner or later. Those reports have come in, but they come with some surprising news. Some Apple stores are handing out replacements for free. Gizmodo has reported on three different incidents where an iPhone 4 owner broke the glass on their precious device but got a free replacement from Apple. While there aren't widespread reports of Apple offering up free replacements, it does seem to be worth a shot if you end up dropping your device.
It's definitely strange that Apple is handing out free replacements for shattered iPhones considering they've never done so in the past. Some say that Apple is replacing iPhone 4s because they are more lenient during the first couple weeks of a product release. This way they can gather information about the accidents and use the info for future training and policy making. While this is great news (if it's true), it's definitely not something I would want to test. Considering that both the back and front of the iPhone 4 is made of glass, those bumper cases are looking more like a necessary accessory. You can protect the device and hold it however you want without any potential reception loss! Have any of you with a broken iPhone 4 had any luck getting a free replacement?
