Samsung may be hosting an event on August 5, but it couldn't wait until then to begin announcing new phones.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is now official, and as its name suggests, its a 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip foldable that launched earlier this year. In addition to that upgrade, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G also includes a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, making it the first Samsung phone to get that chipset.
The other specs of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G are largely similar to the 4G model. This new Z Flip 5G has a 6.7-inch 2636x1080 Dynamic AMOLED display that you can fold in half to take up less space, plus a 1.1-inch 300x112 Super AMOLED screen on its outer shell so you can check the time and your notifications without having to open the phone.
There are two 12MP rear cameras on the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, including a main cam with Super Speed Dual Pixel AF and optical image stabilization plus an ultra wide camera with 112-degree field of view. A 10MP camera at the top of the main display will help you take selfies.
Samsung has also packed the Galaxy Z Flip 5G with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and there's a 3300mAh battery inside the device. You can refill that battery with wired fast charging or wireless charging, and you can even use Wireless PowerShare to recharge other devices wireless with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G will be available in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Gray color options starting August 7. You'll be able to snag an unlocked model directly from Samsung, and it'll also be available online through AT&T, T-Mobile, Best Buy, and Amazon.
Pricing for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G will be set at $1,449.99, which is $70 more than the 4G version of the device. For a limited time, you can trade an eligible device in to Samsung and get up to $650 off the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
