We've known for a few months now that WWDC 2020 would be happening in June with an "entirely new online format", but other than that Apple hadn't dropped many details about this year's developer conference. Today that's changing.
Apple today confirmed the basic schedule for WWDC 2020, including a Special Event Keynote that'll happen at 10:00 am PDT on June 22. It'll be streamed on Apple.com, the Apple TV app, the Apple Developer app, and YouTube.
"The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off with exciting reveals, inspiration, and new opportunities to continue creating the most innovative apps in the world," Apple says. "Join the worldwide developer community for an in-depth look at the future of Apple platforms, directly from Apple Park."
While WWDC is a developer-focused event, the keynote can be interesting even for us non-developer folks because Apple typically gives a preview of its next major iOS release and some of the new features that'll be included. This year's WWDC may be in a new online format, but Apple could still give us a glimpse at iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 during this keynote.
Following the keynote, Apple will host a Platforms State of the Union on June 22 ad 2:00 pm PDT. Then from June 23-26, there will be more than 100 engineering sessions with technical and design-focused videos made by Apple engineers to help developers build apps. Apple will also offer 1-on-1 Developer Labs by appointment for devs who want more in-depth guidance.
