After announcing the Moto G8 Plus and G8 Play last year, Motorola is again growing the Moto G8 family today.
The Moto G8 is now official with a few upgrades over the Moto G7. The display is now a larger 6.4-inch 1560x720 panel that's ditched the notch found on the G7 in favor of a hole-punc in the upper-left corner of the screen. In that hole-punch is an 8MP selfie cam with f/2.0 aperture.
Around back the Moto G8 features three cameras, up from the G7's two. This triple camera array includes a 16MP with f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide cam with 118-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro cam with f/2.2 aperture for close-up shots. There's a laser autofocus module included with the G8's rear cameras, too.
Moto has included some custom software camera features with the G8, like a manual mode, a portrait mode, and RAW photo output.
The Moto G8 is equipped with an octa-core Snapdragon 665 processor, an upgrade from the Moto G7's Snapdragon 632 chipset. There's 4GB of RAM included in the G8 along with 64GB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot that'll let you add up to 512GB of additional storage.
There's a 4000mAh battery powering the Moto G8 and support for up to 10W fast charging to help you refill that battery more quickly. A fingerprint reader is located on the back of the phone, covered by a Motorola logo, and the entire device features a water repellent design.
The Android 10-powered Moto G8 is on sale in Brazil today at a price of R$1,299 ($280 USD). It'll be released in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia in the coming weeks.
Ever since the original Moto G was launched in 2013, the G series has become a go-to option for folks who want a solid but affordable Android phone. With the Moto G8, Motorola looks to continue that trend, offering features like a hole-punch display and multiple rear cameras that you normally see in premium phones, plus some specs that won't necessarily blow you away but should still offer respectable performance for most folks.
