Motorola took the wraps off of the Moto G8 Plus and G8 Play three months ago, but we've yet to meet any regular Moto G8 model. A new leak shows that that device is still in the works.
The Moto G8 has appeared in a leaked render sporting a hole-punch display, a first for the Moto G family. The display is a 6.39-inch 1560x720 panel, reports XDA-Developers, and an 8MP f/2.0 selfie cam lives in that hole-punch.
Also shown in this image from 91mobiles is a triple rear camera setup that reportedly includes a 16MP main cam with f/1.7 aperture, a 2MP f/2.2 macro camera, and an 8MP f/2.2 ultra wide angle camera with 118-degree field of view. There's a fingerprint reader builtin to the Motorola logo on the back of the G8.
Other rumored specs of the Moto G8 include a Snapdragon 665 processor, dual SIM slots in some models, and a 4000mAh battery. Motorola is expected to offer models with 2/3/4GB RAM options as well as 32/64GB of storage. Android 10 will likely come preloaded on the G8.
Also leaked today is the Moto G8 Power. This device shares a design with the regular Moto G8 but has some higher-end specs. The screen on the G8 Power is reportedly a 6.36-inch 2300x1080 display with a 25MP f/2.0 selfie cam in the hole-punch.
The back of the Moto G8 Power is reportedly home to a quad camera array with the same three cams as the Moto G8 plus an extra 8MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture. There's a rear fingerprint reader on the G8 Power, too.
Inside the Moto G8 Power is said to be a whopping 5000mAh battery that helps to back up the phone's name. The good news is that Motorola is allegedly including 18W fast charging support to help you refill that battery quickly.
Other rumored specs of the Moto G8 Power include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, dual SIM slots in some regions, a Snapdragon 665 processor, and Android 10.
Motorola's Moto G series has always been about offering affordable devices with respectable features, and the G8 and G8 Power look like they'll continue that tradition. While neither phone is going to blow you away with its specs, their features should be more than enough for most peoples' day-to-day use. Plus, their designs borrow from much more expensive devices, using a hole-punch for less bezel and a multi-cam setup.
