Snapchat began rolling out its rebuilt, faster app for Android earlier this month, and now the refresh app is available to all Android users.
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel confirmed today that the rewritten Snapchat app for Android is now fully rolled out. The updated app is more lightweight and better performing, and a Snap Inc. spokesperson explained to PhoneDog that some specific improvements that users should look for is a better app open time, faster Lens and Stories loads, smoother swiping between screens, and higher image quality.
In the process of rebuilding the app, the Snapchat team made the app more intelligent behind the scenes. These improvements mean that the app can figure out what's important to you at any given time based on where you are in the app and then quietly prioritize or deprioritize certain aspects of the app.
Considering the wide range of Android devices available on the market, it can be tough to get an app working smoothly across all of them. Snap Inc. worked to improve the performance of its Android app with this rewrite, though, which is good to hear, especially considering that Snapchat is one of the most popular apps around.
If you're a Snapchat user on Android, what do you think of the rewritten Snapchat app? Does it feel faster to you?
