Use Snapchat on Android? If so, Snap Inc.'s got some good news for you today.
Snapchat announced today that it's rolling out a "new, faster Snapchat" app that's been "rebuilt just for Android." In an interview with Android Authority, Snapchat SVP of engineering Jerry Hunter explained that users won't noticed much when it comes to the app's layout or controls. Instead, Snapchat's focus is to make its app more responsive and perform better across devices, and Snap Inc. is now testing on a broader set of test devices.

Looking ahead, the team behind the Snapchat app wants to bring the Android version on par with the iOS version. “With this new foundation I wouldn’t be surprised if you actually see things starting to come to Android even before iOS sometimes," said Snapchat VP of product Jacob Andreou. "Android will be becoming a place where we are really testing our latest and greatest stuff which has definitely not been the case historically."
Snapchat is one of the most popular mobile apps around and Android is the biggest mobile platform, so it's important for Snapchat's Android app to work well if Snap Inc. wants to keep users and continue to grow. If you use Snapchat on Android, be on the lookout for a new update and let us know how it's working once you've got it installed!
