HBO Max made waves recently when it announced that it would stream the new movie Wonder Woman 1984 the same day it hits theaters, December 25, at no extra charge for subscribers. Now it looks like we'll see similar releases throughout the next year.
Warner Media announced today that it will launch all 17 of its 2021 Warner Bros. movies on HBO Max on the same day as their theatrical releases. These movies will be available at no extra cost to HBO Max subscribers for the first month of each film's release.
"That's a Warner Bros. motion picture just about once every three weeks," the company says.
Here's the full list of 17 Warner Bros. movies that'll be available on HBO Max in 2021:
While these movies will still hit theaters, there are likely many people who will still avoid going to theaters during 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Launching these 17 films on HBO Max the same day as theaters at no extra charge makes the HBO streaming service an enticing option because you get to enjoy a brand new movie at home and for the same $14.99 per month price that you're already paying for HBO Max.
One thing to note is that HBO Max is no longer offering the 7-day free trial that it launched with earlier this year. The news that all 17 of Warner Bros. 2021 movies are coming to HBO Max may be enough to convince some folks to sign up even without a trial, though.
