The Xbox Series X and S are still difficult to find and will continue to be for the next several months, but if you've been lucky enough to score one, you'll be getting a new update on your console soon.
Microsoft today released the November 2020 Xbox Console Update. There are improvements for both the new Xbox Series X and S consoles as well as the Xbox One series of devices, so everyone has some new features to look forward to even if you haven't gotten a next-gen console yet.
Owners of the Xbox Series X and S are getting six new dynamic background designs in this update that include homages based on previous Xbox consoles and others based on popular profile themes.
Also included is a new tag that'll help you know when you're playing a game with Auto HDR on. When you open the Xbox guide during a game with Auto HDR running, you'll see an "Auto HDR" tag in the upper right corner of your screen.
New, large badges will now appear on games in your library that are optimized for the Xbox Series X and S. The "X|S" badge will appear on the tile of optimized games in the My Games and Apps view.
Other improvements packed into this update include the ability to check your achievement status in the Game Activity tab of the guide, the option to add family member accounts during setup of the console, and the option to pre-install games that are coming soon to Xbox Game Pass so that you can start playing them faster when they become available through Game Pass.
