We've heard some rumors that say that Apple is working on an over-ear pair of AirPods headphones, and today the design of these new AirPods has been leaked by Apple itself.
An icon found in the new iOS 14.3 beta appears to have revealed what the AirPods Studio will look like. While the icon spotted by MacRumors has a simple design, it does suggest that Apple's over-ear headphones will have oval-shaped earcups with padding, thin metal connecting the earcups to the headband, and padding on the inside of that headband.
Rumors have suggested that the AirPods Studio will have active noise cancellation and a Transparency Mode to help you hear what's going on around you, just like the AirPods Pro. It's also said that they'll stop playback if you take them off your ears and then resume when you put them back on, and that if you're wearing them around your neck, the audio will stop but the headphones will remain on so you can quickly get back to your music.
Another detail about the AirPods Studio that's been rumored is that Apple may actually be working on two different models. One would be a made with more lightweight materials while the other would use more premium materials.
It's not known when Apple might launch these AirPods Studio, but now that we're into mid-November and there was no announcement at the past three Apple events, it seems likely that these over-ear AirPods won't launch until sometime in 2021.
