Fast charging is one smartphone feature with companies seem to regularly be one-upping each other, and today Xiaomi announced that it's got a super-fast wireless charging solution.
Xiaomi has created an 80W fast wireless charging technology that that recharge a 4000mAh battery to 10% in 1 minute, 50% in 8 minutes, and all the way up to 100% in 19 minutes. This 80W fast charging solution is quite a bit faster than the fastest wireless charging that Xiaomi currently offers in a consumer device, which is 50W fast charging in the Mi 10 Ultra.
There's no word yet on when Xiaomi might launch a smartphone that includes 80W fast wireless charging. But if the company is showing that feature off now, it could be included in a new device soon.
Xiaomi's 80W fast wireless charging solution is faster than many popular smartphones can charge over a wired connection, so this is an impressive feat. What will be interesting is seeing how Xiaomi deals with the heat generated from wirelessly charging a phone at 80W speeds. Some other fast wireless chargers have a built-in fan, so that's one possibility here.
