After refocusing on YouTube Music over Google Play Music as its main streaming effort, Google has been working to build out YouTube Music's feature set. Today it's adding an Apple Watch app to that list.
YouTube Music is now available on the Apple Watch with an app that'll let you browse playlists, control music playback, and give you casting options. The app includes an Apple Watch complication, too, that'll show what's now playing and give you a shortcut to access playback controls.
To use these features, you'll need the YouTube Music app for iPhone, a YouTube Premium or YouTube Premium Music subscription, and an Apple Watch Series 3 or later running watchOS 6 or higher.
You can download YouTube Music from the App Store right here.
Interestingly, this YouTube Music app for Apple Watch is launching before the app for Wear OS smartwatches. The Apple Watch is a hugely popular platform among wearables, but it's still notable that there's no YouTube Music app for Wear OS yet. Google does say that we should "stay tuned for additional updates on YouTube Music availability on Wear OS", so hopefully that app will launch soon.
