Four years ago, Google launched Daydream VR as its take on virtual reality, letting you drop your smartphone into a headset to use VR anywhere. Now that daydream is dead.
Google has confirmed its Daydream VR software is not supported in Android 11. "The Daydream VR app is no longer supported by Google and may not work properly on some devices running Android 11 or later," explains the Google support document spotted by Android Police.
If you've got a Daydream View headset and a phone that slots into it, you may still be able to use the Daydream VR app. However, Google says that the service will not receive any more software or security updates.
When it launched the Pixel 4 last year, Google said that its device would not support Daydream VR and that it would stop selling the Daydream View headsets. Because of that, it's not a huge surprise to learn that Daydream VR is no longer supported with the new update to Android 11.
Did you ever use Daydream VR?
