Today Apple released iOS 14.2 beta 2, and along with the new Shazam Music Recognition feature, the update includes new emoji.
The iOS 14.2 update includes characters from the Emoji 13.0 release that Apple teased earlier this year (via Emojipedia). Some of the new characters in this release include the pinched fingers gesture, a smiling face with a tear, a ninja, a transgender flag, bubble tea, and a black cat.
In all, the Emoji 13.0 update includes 62 new emoji characters plus 55 skin tone and gender variants. You can see all the new iOS 14.2 emoji below.
Apple hasn't said when iOS 14.2 will be released to the public, but we'll likely see a few more beta releases before then. For reference, Apple released the iOS 13.2 update with new emoji at the end of October last year, so we could see iOS 14.2 released in late October as well.
While the update to iOS 14.2 may not have as many new features as the iOS 14 update that was released earlier this month, it's still a big update for the iPhone. Many people get excited for new emoji, and the inclusion of all these new characters in iOS 14.2 could help get people who have been hesitant to upgrade to iOS 14 to finally make the upgrade.
