When the PlayStation 5 pricing and launch date were announced earlier this week, Sony said that pre-orders would begin the next day. Most retailers went ahead and began pre-orders at various times that same day, though, frustrating many would-be PS5 buyers. Now Sony has issued a statement on what happened.

Sony admitted today that pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 "could have been a lot smoother." The company went on to apologize for what happened and said that more PS5 consoles will be available for pre-order "over the next few days."

Additionally, Sony has pledged that even more PS5s will be made available through the end of 2020.

It was difficult for many people who wanted to pre-order a PlayStation 5 because there was no word on what time retailers would begin taking pre-orders. That meant that those people would had to keep checking retailer websites, Twitter, and other sites throughout the day to try and score PS5 pre-order to get the console on its November 12 launch date.

While we don't know exactly when retailers will be getting more PS5s for pre-order, this is good news for folks who struck out with the last round of pre-orders. Were you able to secure a PS5 pre-order? If not, are you going to try again when the next round becomes available?
