We're seeing a lot of interesting smartphone designs lately, including foldable screens and dual display devices, and today LG revealed a unique smartphone design of its own.

The LG Wing is now official, featuring two displays and a swiveling mechanism that rotates the phone into a "T" shape. The main display of the LG Wing is a 6.8-inch 2460x1080 P-OLED display. When you rotate that screen 90 degrees and enter "Swivel Mode", you reveal a second OLED display that measures 3.9 inches and has a resolution of 1240x1080.

LG says that the hinge mechanism in the Wing is "proven to be perfectly reliable" after 200,000 swivels.

With the LG Wing, a single app can be expanded to run on both screens at once or two apps can run on each display simultaneously. For example, you could watch a video on the main display while browsing the web on the second screen. You can also use the preinstalled NAVER Whale web browser to watch a YouTube video on the main screen while the second display shows the video comments or search bar.

The Wing is also the first phone with a Gimbal Motion Camera. This feature allows you to turn the second screen into a grip, giving you smoother video recording using one hand. This gimbal feature gives you functions like a joystick for controlling the camera angle, a lock to reduce shakes, and a follow mode for smoother videos when moving.

There's a triple rear camera array on the back of the LG Wing that includes a 64MP main cam with f/1.8 aperture. The 13MP ultra wide camera includes a 117-degree field of view, and a 12MP "Ultra Wide Big Pixel" camera.

There's a 32MP pop-up selfie cam, too, and the LG Wing includes a Dual Recording feature in Swivel Mode that lets you use that front camera and a rear camera to record two videos at the same time.

Inside the LG Wing is a Snapdragon 765G processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of built-in storage. LG has also included a microSD card slot will let you add up to 2TB of additional storage. The battery is a 4000mAh cell and Quick Charge 4+ fast charging is supported.

The LG Wing also includes 5G support, NFC, and wireless charging support. There's fingerprint reader built into the Wing's main display, and IP54 water and dust resistance is included as well.

LG says that the Wing will launch in South Korea in October and will then be released in "key markets" in North America and Europe. LG tells PhoneDog that the Wing will be available from US carriers, launching on Verizon first and then coming to AT&T and T-Mobile later. No pricing info for the LG Wing has been announced.

The LG Wing is reminiscent of the LG VX-9400, which had a rotating display that revealed a keypad. The Wing is updated for the modern smartphone age, though, and it is different than most anything else on the market right now even with all of the foldable screens and dual display devices releasing lately.
