Many people don't answer incoming calls unless they already know the person who's calling, but Google is hoping to make it easier for you to decide when to answer calls with its Verified Calls feature.
Verified Calls can show the name, logo, and reason for calling when a business calls you and you're using the Google Phone app. Reasons for calling can include "Confirm transaction activity", "Flight time changes", and "Your food delivery".
This info appears when a call has been authenticated by Google. This authentication is done securely and Google doesn't collect or store any personally identifiable information after it verifies the incoming call.
Verified Calls is rolling out first in the US, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and India, and it'll expand to more countries soon.
In other phone call news, Google announced today that the Google Phone app will be available to download on more non-Pixel devices running Android 9 Pie or higher starting later this week. You can visit the Play Store to see if Google's Phone app is compatible with your device.
