We suspected that the LG Wing was the focus of that announcement teaser that LG dropped a few days ago, and now the company has confirmed it.
The LG Wing will be officially unveiled on September 14, LG said today. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube starting at 7:00 am PT / 10:00 am ET on that date.
LG says the Wing will be the first device in its Explorer Project, which is "aimed at discovering new ways to interact with mobile devices" and "challenging established user norms." The Wing "will deliver a new and different form factor and mobile experience that would be impossible to create with conventional smartphones," LG touts.
Leaks have shown that the LG Wing will have a regular main display and then a secondary display that swivels out so that the device forms a "T". This could help you multitask, doing things like browsing the web on the main display and watching a video or messaging on the secondary screen.
It's rumored that the LG Wing's main display will be a 6.8-inch panel while the secondary screen is a 4-inch display with a 1:1 aspect ratio. The Wing is also expected to include a Snapdragon 700-series processor, 5G connectivity, and a triple rear camera setup with a 64MP main camera. It could launch in the US this fall with a price that's around $1,000.
