Two weeks after releasing the previous iOS 14 beta, Apple's got another one ready for testing.
iOS 14 beta 5 iPadOS 14 beta 5 are now available to registered developers (via MacRumors). They're rolling out over the air, and you can grab your device's update by launching the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and tapping on "General" followed by "Software update".
Apple will likely released public beta versions of the updates in the coming days. If you're not already in the public beta, you can sign up for it through the Apple Beta Software Program.
We've seen Apple use these betas to tweak iOS 14 ahead of its public release this fall. For example, iOS 14 beta 4 added an Apple TV widget and made search improvements, while the third beta brought updates to the Clock and Screen Time widgets and a new Music icon.
The update to iOS 14 will bring with it lots of new features. One of the biggest is support for resizable widgets on your home screen, which will be one of the biggest changes to the iOS home screen ever.
Apple is also adding App Library, which is a new home screen that'll show all your installed apps in organized folders and an alphabetical list. You can use App Library to hide other home screens, too.
Other notable improvements coming with iOS 14 include smaller, less intrusive versions of incoming call notifications and Siri; a new Translate app with support for 11 languages; App Clips that'll let you use part of an app like a parking meter app without installing the whole thing; picture-in-picture; and Messages improvements like the ability to pin conversations, @mentions in group chats, and in-line replies.
Apple also released watchOS 7 beta 5 to developers today (via MacRumors). The update to watchOS 7 brings new features like native sleep tracking, new watch faces, the ability to share watch faces with others, and automatic hand washing detection with a 20-second timer.
We've compiled the full list of devices that'll be updated to iOS 14 this fall, as well as lists of iPadOS 14 and watchOS 7-compatible models. You can find them all right here.
