If you're testing the iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 beta on your iPhone or iPad, there's a new update coming your way.
Apple today released iOS 14 beta 4 and iPadOS 14 beta 4 (via MacRumors). These new updates are currently rolling out over the air to registered developers, and they're available on the web from Apple's Developer Center, too. We should see new updates for public testers in the coming days.
Folks not already in the public tests for iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 can sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program. This lets you test iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 before they're released to everyone later this year. Just keep in mind that these updates are still in beta, so you may encounter some bugs while using it.
The updates to iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 include lots of new features. iPhone owners will get resizable widgets for their home screen, smaller and less intrusive incoming call notifications, a smaller version of Siri when you invoke the assistant, and a new Translate app.
There's a new App Library screen that'll show all the apps on your iPhone both in folders and in an alphabetical list, too, and there are several improvements to Messages. Those include the ability to pin conversations to the top of the app, inline replies and @mentions in group chats, and new Memoji features.
Meanwhile, iPad owners can look forward to a new Scribble feature in iPadOS 14 that'll turn your handwriting into typed text. The iPad is also getting updated UIs for apps like Photos and Files that better take advantage of the iPad's bigger screen, plus many of the same improvements of iOS 14 like smaller versions of Siri and incoming call notifications.
Also rolling out today is watchOS 7 beta 4 (via MacRumors). The update to watchOS 7 brings new features of its own, including native sleep tracking, watch face sharing, and automatic handwashing detection with a 20-second timer.
iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7 will all be released to the public this fall. You can find a full list of devices that'll receive these updates right here.
