If you pre-ordered a Galaxy Note 20 or are thinking about buying one at launch, there's something you should know about what won't be in the box.
Samsung USA has opted not to include the free AKG USB-C earbuds in North America that'll be bundled with the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra in Europe. SamMobile was told by Samsung that this is because "the usage of wired headphones...has steadily declined".
The decision not to include wired earbuds in the box in North America is said to apply to all of Samsung's flagships moving forward, including the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.
The good news is that if you do like to use wired headphones, you should be able to get a pair from Samsung if you buy a Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra. Samsung says that it will give a pair of wired AKG USB-C headphones to Note 20 buyers who contact customer support and ask for them.
"For those consumers that prefer the USB-C wired headphones, our customer care team can offer them on request," Samsung USA said.
With the popularity of Bluetooth headphones, especially truly wireless earbuds, as well as lots of recent phones ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack, it's understandable why some companies would opt to not include headphones in the box of a new phone to cut down on costs and waste. Rumors say Apple may not include headphones with the iPhone 12 this year. Thankfully, Samsung is doing the right thing by giving headphones to those customers do who want them.
