Google Phone app available to more non-Pixel Android phones with new beta release

Google's Phone app for Android has a good-looking, minimal design, and with a new update it's available on a wider variety of devices.

The Phone app can now be downloaded on most any Android phone using the Play Store. As noted by the folks at Android Police, though, there are two catches. First is that you'll need to enroll in the beta testing program, as only the beta version is working for everyone right now. You can sign up for the beta here.

You'll also need to navigate to the Phone app's Play Store listing directly, which you can do here. That's because the app isn't particularly easy to find when just searching the Play Store.

Google's Phone app actually became available to some non-Pixel phones earlier this year, but at the time owners of Samsung and OnePlus devices couldn't install it. Those are two pretty significant manufacturers, so it's good to see the Phone app working on even more devices today.

While non-Pixel users won't get all of the nifty features that Pixel owners do when you install this app, such as Call Screen, this Phone app does look good and some people may appreciate the ability to install Google's own Phone app. Plus, it's always good to have more options, and that applies to your choice of dialer app, too.
