Android users get early access to Microsoft's xCloud game streaming service today

Microsoft will officially launch its Project xCloud game streaming service on September 15, but if you've got an Android device and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you can try it out today.

A new beta test of xCloud is launching today that Android users can participate in by downloading the Xbox Game Pass beta app from the Play Store. As noted by The Verge, you will need to be a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs $15 per month and will include xCloud when the service launches to the public next month.

Many users on Reddit are reporting that the xCloud preview is now live in the Xbox Game Pass app, so if you meet the criteria to play, you may want to update to the latest version of the app now. Some folks say they had to connect a controller and restart the app after updating to get xCloud working.

This beta version of xCloud will have around 30 games available to play, which is a good bit less than the 100+ titles that'll be available with xCloud at launch.

This public preview will run through September 11.

With xCloud, you can stream Xbox games from the cloud onto your Android device as well as on an Xbox console or Windows 10 PC. This means that you can play console quality games on the go, so long as you've got a high-speed internet connection.
