HTC is in kind of a strange position right now. Once a major part of the smartphone industry, HTC has been relatively quiet lately, only launching a few new cheaper phones over the past year and doing so without much fanfare. Today that trend continues with the quiet debut of another new low-cost device.

The HTC Wildfire E2 has quietly been made official by HTC's Russian website (via Helpix.ru). That's the only part of the globe where the Wildfire E2 appears to be available right now, with the new device selling for around  ‎₽8760 Rubles, or around $119 USD.

As you might expect with a price like that, the HTC Wildfire E2 has fairly entry-level specs. It includes a 6.2-inch 1520x720 screen that has a waterdrop notch for its 8MP selfie camera. There's an octa-core MediaTek MT6762D processor with either 3 or 4GB of RAM plus 32 or 64GB of built-in storage. A microSD slot will let you add up to 128GB of additional storage.

There's a dual camera setup on the back of the HTC Wildfire E2 that includes a 16MP main cam and 2MP secondary camera. A fingerprint reader is on the back of the phone, too, and on the bottom is a USB-C port for charging the 4000mAh battery. A 3.5mm headphone jack is included, too.

HTC has preloaded Android 10 on the Wildfire E2.

The Wildfire series of phones has always been focused on entry-level devices with more affordable prices, and so it's not a huge surprise that this new Wildfire E2 is just that. That part of the market appears to be where HTC is focusing now, as this is the second Wildfire model that HTC has released this year.

There's no word on when or if the HTC Wildfire E2 will become available in other parts of the globe.
