So far, Google has only said that Android 11 will launch sometime in Q3 2020. It looks like Google may have accidentally revealed a more exact Android 11 launch date this week, though.
Google looks like it's planning to launch Android 11 on September 8. During a "Works With 'Hey Google' Smart Home Summit" stream that happened last night, Google was highlighting the new Controls feature that gives you quick access to your smart home controls by long-pressing your phone's power button, and it flashed the following slide at the 18-minute mark:
In addition to showing the phrase "Checklist for September 8th Android 11 launch" on the slide, Google's Michele Turner says that "We're launching everywhere on September 8th".
Last year we saw Google launch Android 10 on September 3, and so a September 8 release of Android 11 would make sense. That date would also line up with Google's current Android 11 release timeline.
It's kind of strange to see Google let its Android 11 launch date slip in a presentation like this. But whatever the reason that it happened, we're glad to have a more precise Android 11 launch date to look forward to.
