LG today took the wraps off of two new pairs of truly wireless earbuds, and the higher-end model of the two includes a feature we haven't seen on other earbuds.
The LG Tone Free HBS-FN6 model are self-cleaning. This is made possible by LG's UVnano case, which uses built-in ultraviolet light to eliminate 99.9 percent of E.coli and S. aureus from the silicone ear gel and inner mesh of the earbuds.
Both the HBS-FN6 and HBS-FN4 versions of LG's Tone Free truly wireless earbuds include a feature called Headphone Spatial Processing (HSP), a technology from Meridian. LG touts that this technology helps to simulate the experience of listening to real loudspeakers and also helps improve the clarity of vocals.
Meridian also helped LG to give these new Tone Free earbuds customized EQ sound settings, with each mode offering four presets. These include Natural for more balanced sound, Immersive for an expanded sense of space, Bass Boost for some extra low-end, and Treble Boost for better vocal clarity.
LG touts that its Tone Free truly wireless earbuds include an Ambient Sound Mode to help you better hear what's going on around you, Voice Command for easier access to Google Assistant or Siri, and touch commands built into each earbud that give you controls like play, pause, skip, and volume control. The earbuds also include IPX4 resistance to rain and sweat.
The new LG Tone Free earbuds can get you 6 hours of music playback on a single charge. The UVnano charging case can give you 3 full charges.
Both of LG's Tone Free truly wireless earbuds models will launch in key European and American markets starting next month, and they'll expand to more regions after that. There's no word yet on how much they'll cost.
