Motorola recently got back into the flagship Android game with the launch of the Edge+, but unfortunately for some of those who decided to make the new Moto their daily driver, there are some pretty serious display issues with the Edge+.
Some Motorola Edge+ owners are suffering from screen problems that include dark purple smudging on the sides of the display that spread further in as they use the phone (via Droid-Life). Others say that they're seeing a green tint show up on their Edge+ display.
Folks who have been affected by these display problems say that they go away after not using the phone for a while, but as soon as they start using it again, the dark spots and green tint return.
A Lenovo forums admin named Matt had been telling Edge+ owners affected with these display problems that an update was in the works that should fix it. Verizon released an update for the Edge+ last week that included "Improved display contrast and clarity", and some Edge+ owners say that their screen issues have gone away after updating. Not everyone has been so lucky, though, and other folks are still having problems.
Today that same Lenovo forums admin is telling Edge+ owners that if they've gotten the new update and their display issues haven't cleared up within a day or two, they should return the device and get a new one.
Meanwhile, Motorola has confirmed to Droid-Life that it is "aware of these isolated Edge+ reports". The company went on to say that the new update should fix the display problems, but if someone is still having issue after updating, they should contact the Motorola Support Team.
Display smudging and a green tint like what we're seeing here would be an issue with any phone, but it's especially serious given that the Motorola Edge+ is a $1,000 flagship device. It's good to hear that Moto is working on software updates that it hopes will fix these display problems, but some folks say they're still having issues after the update, so hopefully Motorola can get the problems ironed out for good so that people who plunked down for the Edge+ can use it without worrying about these major issues.
