If you're an AT&T or Verizon customer who's been thinking about making the switch to T-Mobile, now may be a good time to do it.
T-Mobile today launched its new Keep & Switch deal. With this offer, AT&T and Verizon customers can switch to T-Mobile and get their remaining phone payments covered by T-Mo, up to $450. They can then bring that phone with them onto the T-Mobile network.
To take advantage of this deal you must be an AT&T or Verizon customer with a device financing agreement. The fine print of the Keep & Switch deal states that only select phones are eligible to have their payments covered by T-Mobile. The list of eligible devices looks like this:
Before you bring your phone over from AT&T or Verizon, you should get a screenshot of your device financing details to prove how much you owe. You should also confirm that your phone is unlocked.
When you sign up for T-Mobile, you'll need to activate a new voice line on an eligible rate plan. These include Magenta, Magenta Plus, Magenta Unlimited 55, Magenta Military, Magenta First Responder, Essentials, and Essentials Unlimited 55.
Finally, you'll submit for your reimbursement at T-Mobile's www.switch2t-mobile.com website. You'll receive up to $450 to cover the remaining cost of your device, and your reimbursement will come in the form of a virtual prepaid card.
T-Mobile also confirmed today that it's offering a 3rd line free deal on its Essentials plan. It includes unlimited talk, text, and smartphone data, SD video streaming, unlimited mobile hotspot at 3G speeds, T-Mobile Tuesdays gifts, and more.
What do you think of T-Mobile's Keep & Switch deal? Is the offer of having your current smartphone paid off and getting to keep it when you change carriers tempting enough to get you to make the switch?
