Sony was going to host a PlayStation 5 event last week where it planned to give us our first look at PS5 games, but that event was postponed due to the ongoing protests around the world. Now we've got a new date for the event.
Sony's "The Future of Gaming" event will now happen this Thursday, June 11. The show will kick off at 1:00 pm PDT/4:00 pm EDT/9:00 pm BST.
As for what's going to be shown, Sony has said that we'll get "a first look at the games you'll be playing after the PlayStation 5 launches this holiday."
Sony adds that this pre-recorded show will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 frames per second because that helped to ease the production process while many are working from home. "The games you'll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on a PS5 with a 4K TV," Sony explains.
It's not known if we'll finally get to see the PS5 console itself during this show, but Sony may be saving that reveal for a future event. The company says that this week's games showcase is just part of a "series of PS5 updates" and that it still has "much to share", so we may have to wait a bit longer to see the box that'll be sitting underneath our TVs.
