After teaming up to launch a couple of special edition phones, it looks like OnePlus and McLaren have officially ended their partnership.
It was recently discovered that OnePlus is no longer listed as a partner on McLaren's F1 website. Now McLaren has confirmed that its relationship with OnePlus recently "came to its scheduled conclusion", suggesting that we won't see any special orange phones from OnePlus.
Here's the full statement that McLaren gave to Android Authority:
"Our partnership with OnePlus, which came to its scheduled conclusion recently, has been a highly successful collaboration between two iconic and innovative brands. Since the start of this partnership in 2018, OnePlus has been a supportive, valued partner and we wish them well and hope to see them in the future."
This partnership produced the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition and OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition. Both devices had special carbon fiber designs with orange accents and McLaren branding, plus some added RAM over their non-McLaren counterparts.
The special designs of these McLaren phones looked pretty cool and the extra RAM was a nice option to have for folks who want the highest-end phone they can get, so it's kind of disappointing to learn that OnePlus and McLaren's partnership has ended. OnePlus has managed to make some pretty nice colors and designs on its own, though, like the Interstellar Glow OnePlus 8, so at least there's that.
