After releasing two betas for iOS 13.4.5, Apple today began rolling out the third beta release with a new number.
iOS 13.5 beta 3 is now available to developers. As noted by MacRumors, the change from iOS 13.4.5 to iOS 13.5 was made because Apple made an API change to include support for the coronavirus exposure tracking tech that it's working on with Google. Because this update is now using a different SDK than iOS 13.4, Apple had to switch the number to iOS 13.5.
This release includes a beta version of that exposure notification API so that public health authorities can begin working on apps that utilize it.
Also included are all the features that we've seen in previous iOS 13.4.5 beta releases. Those include the ability to share Apple Music songs to Instagram Stories, complete with the album artwork, song title, and artist. There are also patches for two vulnerabilities with the Mail app on iPhone and iPad.
Apple also released watchOS 6.2.5 beta 3 to developers today. There haven't been any major new features found in this update, so it may be focused more on improving performance and fixing bugs under the hood.
