The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro may still be a few days away from their official launch date, but that isn't stopping OnePlus from pushing out updates for their new flagship phones.
The OnePlus 8 Pro is being updated to OxygenOS 10.5.5, while the OnePlus 8 is getting OxygenOS 10.5.4. One of the improvements included with the OnePlus 8 Pro update is "Optimized the display effects", which is pretty vague but seems like OnePlus is working to address those display issues we told you about.
The folks at Android Police have installed this update and say that the OnePlus 8 Pro's green tint display problem isn't as bad as it was before, and some Twitter users say the same. The issue doesn't sound like it's completely fixed yet, but at least some improvement is good to see.
Also included with the OnePlus 8 Pro's update is "Optimized touch sensitivity on the screen edges", which should improve accidental touch rejection on the OP8 Pro's curved edge screen. There's improved smoothness in motion graphics smoothing, too, as well as improved accuracy of white balance and focus in a dark environment for the camera.
OnePlus 8 owners can expect the same "Optimized the display effects" improvement that the OnePlus 8 Pro got as well as the improved white balance and focus for the Camera app.
OnePlus has now pushed a couple of updates out for its new phones ahead of release, and it's good to see the company working to iron out issues and improve performance of its new flagships before they officially launch to consumers. This likely won't be the last of the updates released to address the display issues, as some folks are still seeing a green tint and an update to fix the crushed blacks is expected in May, so stay tuned for those if you're getting a OnePlus 8 series device.
