We've already gotten a look at the Pixel 4a in leaked photos and a hands-on video, and now the leaks continue with an early peek at the box that Google's new phone will come in.
An image that shows the Pixel 4a packaging has leaked out. Shared in the Google Pixel Community on Facebook (via TechDroider), the box looks similar to the packaging that the Pixel 3a came in, but with "Pixel 4a" branding and images of the rear and side of the phone.
If the packaging is complete, that suggests that the Pixel 4a could be ready to launch soon. It was widely expected that Google would introduce it at I/O 2020 on May 12th, which would be one year after the Pixel 3a's announcement, but that event was canceled due to the coronavirus. We could still see a Pixel 4a launch around that date, though.
In other Pixel 4a news, the spec list for Google's upcoming device has also leaked. According to 9to5Google, the Pixel 4a will feature a 5.81-inch 2340x1080 OLED display with an 8MP selfie camera in a hole-punch. Around back is a 12.2MP camera with OIS and EIS as well as video recording at 4K at 30fps; 1080p at 30fps, 60fps, and 120fps; and 720p at 240fps.
Google is said to be packing an octa-core Snapdragon 730 processor into the Pixel 4a plus 6GB of RAM, and 64GB and 128GB storage options are expected, too. A 3080mAh battery with 18W fast charging support will be in there, too, but don't expect any wireless charging.
Rounding out the spec list is a rear fingerprint reader, a 3.5mm headphone jack, support for all major US carriers, and at least two color options: Just Black and Barely Blue.
It's expected that the Pixel 4a will start at $399. The flagship Pixel 4 starts at $799, and so the Pixel 4a could be a great option for folks who want a Google phone and the update support that comes with it but aren't looking to spend flagship-level money. The Pixel 3a is still a great option for consumers who want an affordable Android phone, and the Pixel 4a is looking like it will be, too.
