T-Mobile Connect is part of the carrier's New T-Mobile Un-carrier 1.0, a group of moves that are supposed to go live if T-Mo's merger with Sprint is completed. Today T-Mobile announced that it's skipping the wait and taking Connect live this week.
With T-Mobile Connect, customers can get a $15 rate plan, which is half the price of T-Mo's current lowest cost plan. This $15 (plus tax) includes unlimited talk and text plus 2GB of high-speed smartphone data. 5G access is included, too.
If you want a little more smartphone data, T-Mobile Connect will offer a $25 (plus tax) plan that includes unlimited talk and text, 5GB of high-speed smartphone data, and 5G access.
Both plans also offer an Annual Data Upgrade. With this feature, you get an additional 500MB of monthly data every year at no extra cost. So for example, in year two you'd get 2.5GB of high-speed data every month, in year three you'd get 3GB, and so on.
These T-Mobile Connect plans will go live on Wednesday, March 25th.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, some folks may be having trouble paying their normal smartphone bill. With T-Mobile Connect, the goal is to ensure that those customers don't go without cellphone service altogether and can instead get a new, lower cost plan to help keep them connected to their loved ones and the world around them.
Metro by T-Mobile is also rolling out lower cost plans. For the next two months, Metro will offer a $15 plan with unlimited talk and text plus 2GB of high-speed smartphone data. It'll be available for 60 days after customers activate.
MetroSmart Hotspot devices will be half off, too, and the $35 per month plan will include 20GB of data, which is double the monthly allotment, for the next 60 days.
Finally, both new and current Metro by T-Mobile customers with any voice line can get a free 8-inch tablet via rebate redemption with a $15 unlimited tablet plan. The tablet will include sales tax and an activation fee, and this deal requires a new line of tablet service.
These Metro by T-Mobile offers will go live on March 25th.
