It used to be that LG would launch a new G series flagship in the spring and a V series flagship in the fall. Last year LG changed things up, though, introducing new V and G series phones in the first half of the year. Now that the LG V60 ThinQ 5G is official, folks have turned their attention to the LG G9 and what it might bring.
A new report says that the LG G9 ThinQ may not launch with a Snapdragon 865 processor like some folks expect. Instead, Korean site Naver (via NotebookCheck) suggests that the G9 could be equipped with a Snapdragon 765G, which is a more mid-range chip rather than a flagship-tier model like the 865.
Because the G series phones have been LG's flagships for years now, lots of people probably expect that the G9 will have Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset. Now that LG has the LG V60 ThinQ 5G coming to market with a Snapdragon 865, though, it could put a Snapdragon 765G into the LG G9 and make it an "affordable flagship".
The LG V60 ThinQ 5G can be had for $800 or $900 from US carriers, so if the LG G9 ThinQ does have a Snapdragon 765G, you might be able to get one for around $600. And even though it may not have Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon processor, the G9 could still have some other higher-end features, so it could end up being a compelling option for folks who want a more affordable alternative to the pricier phones out there.
