Apple is expected to launch a new iPad Pro this year, and it could bring an updated iPad keyboard with it.
Apple is reportedly working on a new iPad keyboard with a built-in trackpad. The new accessory will launch alongside the new iPad Pro, says The Information, which past rumors have said could arrive as soon as March.
Adding a built-in trackpad to an iPad keyboard accessory would be a big deal for Apple's tablet. The iPad Pro is a powerful device that many use as their main computer, but adding a trackpad would make it even more of a laptop replacement, giving folks the laptop-style experience that they're accustomed to along with Apple's iPadOS software and the tablet form factor.
We saw Apple quietly add mouse support to iPadOS last year, but it's not a feature that Apple really surfaces. To enable it, you have to dig into the Accessibility section of iPadOS. With the news that Apple could be prepping an official iPad keyboard with built-in trackpad, it now looks like that experience of building up mouse support in iPadOS could come in handy.
