Pixel owners, you may soon have some new features to play with.

Google is reportedly planning its next Pixel feature drop for March 2020. The folks at 9to5Google found that in an update to the Pixel Tips app that was released today, there's a new file named "tips_sw_202003a.json".

That file name is notable because before Google released its first Pixel feature drop back in December 2019, the Pixel Tips app received an update that included a new file named "tips_sw_201912a.json". Within weeks, the features named in this file were deployed to Pixel owners as part of December's feature drop.

So what might be inside the March feature drop? Dark mode scheduling, for one. There are strings included in the new Pixel Tips file that say things like "Dark theme turns on automatically at sunset" and "Schedule Dark theme", suggesting that Google may allow Pixel owners to set times for when dark mode is automatically enabled on their phones.

Cards & Passes is another feature that's expected to come with March's feature drop. With it, you'll be able to quickly access your Google Pay wallet from your phone's power key menu.

The new Pixel Tips file includes a reference to "tips_powerkey_features" as well as strings that say things like "Cards & passes settings", "Quick access to wallet", and "Press & hold the Power button to access payment methods, passes, and emergency info".

A new Motion Sense gesture for Pixel 4 owners is also reportedly coming. With it, you'll be able to "air tap" new your Pixel 4 to play or pause your audio.

In the new Pixel Tips file, there are strings that reference this new feature such as "Use Quick Gestures to pause or skip songs" and "Pause or resume music by tapping the air above the phone."

Finally, the new Pixel Tips app hints that Google's Personal Safety app with car crash detection that we heard about last year will also be included in the March feature drop. There's a reference in the Pixel tips app to "tips_carcrash" as well as strings like "Get help calling emergency services after a car crash" and "With car crash detection, your phone can call emergency services".

There's no word yet on exactly when this March feature drop might, er, drop, but Google announced the previous update in early December so we could see the next update as soon as next week. Not only is it exciting that Google is bringing several more new features to Pixel phones, but some of these features were previously thought to be part of Android 11. Now it looks like we won't have to wait for Android 11's update to get them.
