After launching the foldable Razr together, Verizon and Motorola appear to be teaming up on another upcoming device.

Verizon announced today that it achieved speeds of 4.2Gbps on its live 5G network. As part of this test, Verizon used an "upcoming flagship smartphone" from Motorola. The phone wasn't named, but Verizon did confirm that it includes a Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon X55 5G modem (via Droid-Life).

This 5G test used carrier aggregation to combine eight channels of millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum. The test took place at a commercial network cell site in Texas, but Verizon says that eight channel carrier aggregation with mmWave will be widely available on its 5G network in 2020.

We've heard rumors that a device called the Motorola Edge+ could be coming to Verizon with 5G support this year. The phone is rumored to have a 6.67-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate and curved edges, 8/12GB of RAM, a 5169mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 865 processor, so this could be the device that Verizon and Moto are teasing today.
